Celebration
One week, three parties, a lot of phone cameras. Sequins, velvet, the right heel, and what the kids wear to the school carol night.

The last week of December is the most photographed week of the year. Dress for the camera flash, not the mirror: it flattens colour, so you want texture and shine.
Warm and rich: a knit cardigan over a dress, or a velvet blazer for him. Reds and greens are allowed exactly once a year — this is the once. Kids in a party suit or a party gown for the school carol evening, and a sweater for the ride home.
Sequins. A sequin dress and sequin heels for the big party; a tuxedo or a dark suit for him with a proper dress shoe. A clutch — the smaller the better, you will be holding a glass. Oversized earrings; skip the necklace, the neckline is the point.
Oversized tee, jeans, sneakers, sunglasses. The best-dressed person at brunch is the one who looks like they slept.
A tree with ornaments, fairy lights everywhere, cushions in deeper colours. It is also the backdrop of every photo you take that week — worth an afternoon.
